aTube Catcher is a free software tool destined to individuals who want to download videos from social networking sites and video content sharing web places, and then export them to different file formats. Supported file formats are the most common and include MPG, AVI, MP4, 3GP, 3G2, WMV, PSP, MOV and FLV. There's also the possibility to encode videos as DVD, VCD, IPOD, PSP and others, while the tool also supports authentication on YouTube for downloading private videos based on authorization. aTube Catcher enters a web site and detects the video content, then it starts to download it in a directory specified by the user previously. It automatically converts the video to the chosen format. As for copyright holders, the software doesn't come with support for ciphered protocols such as RTMPE and can't decrypt protected content. The included tool Smart Media Hunter enables downloads of fun videos from hundred of web sites. These can include comics and TV commercials, which are available for free.
